May 20, 2020 Library Update
I hope that you all are safe and doing well during this unprecedented time. We’ve had several questions regarding reopening since the governor lifted restrictions under his Phase 1 plan. At this time, the library remains closed to the public at all of its branches. We are working with Caroline County administration to craft a reopening plan and our aim is to keep both staff and patrons safe. No decision has been made, but we will let you know as soon as a date is set for reopening.
Here are a few other reminders to keep in mind:
- While libraries are closed, no overdue fines will accrue. All due dates for materials due March 9th and beyond are being extended.
- Book drops are open at all our locations if you’d like to return your library items.
- Donations are not being accepted at this time. Dropping donations in the book drops increase risk of exposure to staff and they cannot be disinfected the way that library materials can. Any donations we receive have to be disposed of, so we recommend that patrons find another group or charity to donate their materials.
- The AARP has not indicated that they will return for tax appointments. We will keep you up-to-date with any changes as we receive them.
We appreciate all of your patience as we try to figure out how the library moves forward safely. Please feel free to reach out with any questions you may have.
