Good morning everyone!

We would like to remind you that the Dawn Library will be closed this Tuesday, June 23rd, for Congressional and Senate primaries. The branch will also be closed on Wednesday, June 24th for cleaning.

Imagine Your Story June 15th– July 24th
Summer Reading continues- don’t forget to check out our offerings on our website and Facebook!  We also have physical packets that you can pick up at our Bowling Green, Dawn, and Ladysmith branches.  Just give us a call and we’ll deliver it to you curbside!

New Kids and Teens books on Overdrive!
In response to COVID-19, Overdrive has been working with publishers to donate digital books for all our patrons and they’ve just released the first batch of donated titles!  This first collection includes over 100 ebooks, audiobooks, and Read-Alongs for kids and teens. They’re also set up for simultaneous use- so you won’t have to wait to enjoy any of these books!

Book Diversity Survey
If you haven’t completed it already, please take a moment to complete our book diversity survey.  It helps us to make sure that we’re providing the types of materials our patrons want.  The link is here: https://forms.gle/QXiBn94STpLEijKs5

Don’t forget- curbside pickup of books, audiobooks, and DVDs is available at the Bowling Green, Dawn, and Ladysmith branches!

Good morning everyone!

I hope that you and your loved ones are safe and healthy. While we still don’t have a date for reopening our branches, I wanted to let you guys know about a few exciting things happening at the library!

Imagine Your Story June 15th- July 24th

Welcome to Summer Reading 2020! Although this year’s program will be different from any that we’ve had before, all of us at the library have been working hard to make it’s one to remember! Our theme is “Imagine Your Story”. We will be imagining all sorts of fairy tales, myths, and folk tales while we work on fun activities. Or you could imagine your very own story with a writing challenge! This year we’re offering two different packets filled with fun activities- one for the whole family and one just for the kids, writing challenges for adults and kids, and more. All materials will be available online for those who can access them or for pick-up at all of our library branches.

Book Diversity Survey

Caroline County Library strives to support every member of our community. Now more than ever, we want to make sure that the books in our collection represent the lives and experiences of all our patrons. Please help us to do this by filling out this brief survey. It’s only two questions and totally anonymous. Your responses will help us to make better purchasing decisions now and in the future.
Here’s the link to the survey: https://forms.gle/QXiBn94STpLEijKs5

Don’t forget- curbside pickup of books, audiobooks, and DVDs is available at the Bowling Green, Dawn, and Ladysmith branches!

June 1, 2020 Curbside Service Resumes

Posted by awade on

Good morning everyone!

As you may have seen, Caroline County will begin a partial reopening of county buildings and services on Monday, June 1st.  Under this Phase 1 plan, the library buildings will remain closed to the public, but we will resume curbside service for all checkouts.  While there is still is some risk, we’re trying to make this process as safe as possible for both patrons and staff.

Here’s what you can expect from us:

  • Healthy staff members- Daily temperature checks and frequent handwashing for all staff. Social distancing practiced while at work.  Masks will be worn when in public areas.
  • Clean materials- All books, DVDs, and audiobooks are quarantined for 72 hours and then covers are disinfected.

Here’s what we ask of you:

  • Place your requests over the phone or with your online account. Staff will call you to let you know when your materials are ready for pickup.
  • Once you arrive, call the library to let them know. You’ll need to give them your library card number so that the items can be checked out on your card.
  • Wait inside your vehicle until the staff member has brought out your materials, placed them on the table or bench for pickup, and then returned inside the building. Staff will not come out of the buildings if you are outside your vehicle.
  • If you have any items to return, please do so in our book drops. Returns should not be left on the pickup tables.

A few other things to let you know about:

  • At this time, we do not have any plans to begin curbside printing, faxing, or other library services. You also will not be able to come inside to use library computers during Phase 1.
  • Since the buildings are still closed, due dates will be extended. Any items due between March 9th and now will now be due on July 6th.  Fines will not accumulate until that date as well.
  • Summer Reading is coming soon! “Imagine Your Story” with the library June 15th through July 24th.  More information will be coming in a future newsletter.

As always, I want to thank you all for your patience and cooperation as we try to navigate how best to serve you during this time.
